first trip to the park with nana

The first beautiful Saturday of 2015 and Matthew spent the night. After his nap, we watched a little Baby First TV.

And had some lunch. The only time the boy smiles is when he's watching Baby First.

Even intense chewing for a little boy who's getting 8 teeth in right now. Such a poor little guy.

We took the stroller to the park and put him in the baby swing. He fussed loudly at first.

But then - he didn't hate it. You can't tell by these pictures - but he really didn't mind it. Kept swinging with his arm up. Wouldn't put it down.

He's never got a happy face these days. The teeth and acid re-flux makes this little guy show his sour face. I got my first kisses from him this weekend. Got two of em.

Aunt Holly went down the slide with him.

And we sat on the blanket for a little bit, before heading back. Love the sunny days of May.

heart quilt

My sister Donna will soon be a grandmother, so I got busy on this cute little quilt I found through Pinterest. I started out with a 45 x 60 inch piece of white cotton and starting appliqueing hearts on it.

I tried to keep the colors together (pinks, greens, blues) and found I have plenty to choice from in my scrap collection.

I embroidered her name in the middle.

Then did a cute pink 1 1/2 inch border. The multicolor fabric I though was super cute! I made that 5 inches wide and added it.

I quilted it this swirly pattern. And as always, I marked the back with my name and date created. Since the front was a white, I did the back in a light gray trying to keep it on the contemporary side.

I got the idea from here. I modified her design - but looking back, I do like her's better. Next time, I'll do the squares and put them together instead of using one big sheet.

It looks ok - but the hearts needed to be bigger.

I bound it with a bright yellow fabric and hand stitched it down.

I sent it off to Kentucky with a few other goodies. My sister and niece were delighted to receive it in time for the shower.

They actually hung it on the wall behind the new mom as decoration during the shower.

bat cave

Jackie has called Matthew "Bruce Wayne" since he was born. She never worried about him stating, "he'll be fine, he's Batman".  Matthew was born premature and also had to have emergency surgery when he was about 1 month old.

I was at my mother-in-laws for Christmas and my niece had made one for her son, who is exactly the same age as Matthew. "Well, I'm stealing the idea!", I told her. She told me she fond it on Pinterest, The next time Matthew was over with his carrier - I made one.

I went to the fabric store and found some batman material. I had to do a batman one and now we call it his bat cave. :)

Here's the link for the detailed instructions on how to make yours. It is nicely done and filled with a lot of step by step instructions. It's done by a young lady named Chelsea, and her site is Life With My Littles.

The only thing I did differently was put a piece of fleece in between the 2 pieces of flannel. It can't be too warm with our Michigan winter. And warm it was .... I used it in the car seat when he took a little catnap and when he woke up - he was sweaty.

So now, our little Bruce Wayne has his very own bat cave.

mischievous matthew's bubble bath

Aunt Dottie was very much into photography and I believe that if computers were common like they are now, she would have had fun with manipulating photos.

So here's the story ....

I was awakened at 3AM by happy baby noises. I had put Matthew's bed in my room, and I stumbled out of bed to check on him. But the bed was empty.

There it was again .... the happy baby noises. But they seem like they were coming from downstairs. I crept downstairs cautiously.

I stood there astonished and absolutely amazed. I grabbed/ my camera and snap this shot. Matthew is only 4 months old.... We had just watched Adams Family 2 and I saw Matthew smiling at the baby Gomaz. Looks like he got into my Halloween paint. He looks just like him!

He finished off 2 bottles and did a little light reading while enjoying his bubble bath in front of the fireplace. How does he do it?

I also noticed that the new doll I had purchased was out of the box and was nearby.

Oh boy .... who's gonna clean up the place?!? Mischievous Matthew ....
